Do you feel like you know you’re meant to build the run coaching business of your dreams, yet you can’t QUITE get there?
I spent the first 2 years of my business making progress, yet feeling frustrated. As a smart, hard working woman, I just felt like there was something missing. I felt like I was doing the right things, yet not making the income I thought I deserved.
I kept wondering:
What am I doing wrong?!
Well, it turns out one of my biggest roadblocks was inside my head.
How People Pleasing Hurts Your Run Coaching Business
Are you a people pleaser?
What is a People Pleaser? Generally, it describes a person who consistently strives to please others, often sacrificing their own wants or needs in the process.
In a study by YouGOV, 50% of people identified as people pleasers.
7 Signs Being a People Pleaser is Sabotaging Your Run Coaching Business Success
Marketing:
- You are afraid to speak up when you don’t agree with a training philosophy or take a strong stance on YOUR philosophy
- You think about what a certain run coach you admire will think of your posts or you worry about “hater” comments
- Worry that your friends/family are judging you
Result: Watered down marketing that doesn’t speak to your ideal client. Few new clients and if they do come on, often they aren’t your ideal client.
COACHING
- You tend to let you running athletes off the hook or “go easy” on them
- Not asking for feedback from your athletes to make your coaching better/more effective.
- You fear looking selfish or unworthy when pricing (see my pricing episode)
- You overcommit to things and overdeliver to the point of depleting yourself
Result: You’re not serving your athletes at the highest level. You’re underpaid and overwhelmed and can resent your athletes.
